PARAGUAY: Government to denounce arms race before OAS
Paraguay plans to protest this week to the Organization of American
States (OAS) about what it considers to be an arms race unfolding in South
America, which is diverting money away from social welfare and development
spending. It does not intend to single out any particular country but the
Paraguayan congress this week called on President Fernando Lugo to insist that
his Bolivian peer Evo Morales provide more details of Bolivia's planned purchase
of six K-8 light fighter jets from China.
